Distress radio beacons for isolated workers

Distress radio beacons for isolated workers

CONTEXT OF USE

Occupational risks (accidents, attacks, health problems, etc.) are all the more critical when they affect isolated workers. Where there is no one around to provide help in time or where there are no means of providing assistance or of alerting anyone, the isolation of these workers may have disastrous consequences for an accident at work, even aggravating the situation.

This concern resulted in a valuable collaboration between ADEUNIS RF and its client J-D.com, a subsidiary of the PRESCOM group, which is specialised in the design, manufacture and distribution of on-site mobile radio communication systems. By integrating ADEUNIS RF radio functionality, J-D.Com has designed and developed a portable alarm device for these isolated workers.

This device, the VIGIcall 800, which may be programmed according to the user's activity, incorporates the latest technological innovations in accelerometry, which allow movements and loss of verticality to be analysed instantly and efficiently. The VIGIcall 800, which is equipped with J-D.Com's ACTIV'link technology, thus securing wireless radio transmissions, also has an attack alarm (which is triggered manually), a device for detecting involuntary detachment of the VIGIcall 800 and integrated paging.

ADEUNIS RF ADDED VALUE

ADEUNIS RF's value added in the project consisted in providing radio functionality through several RF modules transmitting or receiving in the frequency band 446 and 868 MHz. This radio technology is based on a “narrow band” technology, allowing sensitivity higher than -115dBm to be reached and therefore providing long range with low-power transmitters. As this equipment has to operate with existing system units, it is compatible with the POCSAG protocol.

This system has been developed as part of a customised project. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like more information.
