Transportation - On board ARF54 Modem Moto GP

Thanks to ‘MotoGP Official Live Timing’, a new and revolutionary application developed for Dorna Sports, and which has contributed ADEUNIS RF, all fans could follow the MotoGP Grand Prix of France live, from beginning to end, on their iPads, iPhones or iPods.

CONTEXT OF USE
Following Qatar and Spain in May 2010, Le Mans was host the third stage of the 2010 MotoGP World Championship.

Seventeen outstanding pilots will be ready at the starting line, including Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa, Casey Stoner, Nicky Hayden and Randy de Puniet, to name just a few. Forty-two young drivers will participate in Moto2, watched by 150,000 on-site spectators and 220 million television viewers worldwide.

An even larger audience followed this Monster Energy French Grand Prix live, from beginning to end, on their iPads, iPhones or iPods! How ?

ADEUNIS RF ADDED VALUE
A complete system integrating the extremely sophisticated ARF54 module by ADEUNIS RF is on board each of thirty-four MotoGPs.

Placed in a compartment under the seat, it enables nearly real time transmission (ten times per second) of technical data, such as the position of each motorcycle on the circuit, its lap time and intermediate time, gap between pilots and the final results of each session.

This system was designed to operate in an extreme environment (speeds up to 300 km/h at the end of a straightaway, machine vibration, motorcycle tilt, temperature differences, etc.), with minimum weight and optimal data refreshing.

To ensure continuous data recovery, RF antennas are positioned around the circuit at key points. This “gridding” eliminates all risk of shadow areas. The antenna network ensures real-time tracking wherever the motorcycles are located, even when they enter the pit box.

Data from the MotoGPs are transmitted directly to the MotoGP Official Live Timing application. This enables fans to follow their favorite pilots live (or see a replay of the action) throughout the different World Championship events on dynamic, interactive cards with optimal precision.

ABOUT THE ARF54
This module enables a two-ways wireless link up to a range of 6000m.
Available in the 869MHz or 902/928MHz in FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) bands, these module-modems are usable without a licence.
It is a complete wireless solution which integrates a digital radio transceiver, a microcontroller, a dedicated firmware.
Data transmission is performed via a UART serial interface.
